How is the capital gain on gold calculated?

Modified on Fri, 24 Jan at 5:15 PM

The capital gain is the difference between the GBP buy price of your tally (gold) and the GBP price when it is spent (i.e. sold). For example:

  • GBP buy price: £1,000

  • GBP sell price: £1,500

  • Capital Gain (realised): £500

The difference between the GBP buy price of the tally (milligrams of gold) and the GBP sell price (i.e. FX at moment of spending tally) is calculated at the time those tally are spent or transferred from the customer’s Tally Account, which allows for multiple transfers in and out of your TallyMoney account throughout a tax year to be aggregated.  Should your own tax advice need any specific or different information regarding calculations on your transactions, please contact our customer support team.
